About Me
- Name: Robert Stark
- Location: Albuquerque, NM
I first painted the New Mexico landscape in Taos and Santa Fe in the mid 50's, during summer break, while working at the Bishop's Lodge near Santa Fe. Years later I began painting in a studio in Albuquerque in 2004. I work both in the studio and in the open air, small paintings are studies for the large studio paintings. Painting from life captures an essence of place differently than a photographs, which for me, have always been a language of black and white. Painting from life involves working while the light is changing, and resolving and relating the changes in the landscape during the day. My painting in the past 3 years have been influenced both by scale and the New Mexico palette.

Robert,
I ran across your work via the "next blog" button, and I have to say that I find your paintings to be absolutely brilliant! Thank you for posting them.
Steve,
Finally saw your comments, thank you. In the 60's I played in Marat/Sade 6 nights a week for 5 months. I still try to see as much theatre as possible. Best, Robert
